Sustainable agriculture will further enforce this development. In order of Food South Australia and DPI Melbourne, Rijnconsult developed and run a two weeks improvement program on strengthening value chain development in South Australia and Victoria. Some 40 companies from different sectors like the fruit and vegetable sector, fish sector, wine sector, potato sector and horticulture took part in the program. Elements in the program were: global drivers for value chain development, successful cases, the management of value chains and the translation of this in new business concepts.

“Discussing global best cases from different countries and improving the own value chain performance not only strengthens the own competitiveness of a company but leads also to a better understanding of the international agrifood system. Besides that it brings people from different companies together, sometimes leading to new international value chains and business cooperation”.
